Not me trying to find a clean picture of this room and coming up with this... Which helps explain why we are where we are. My office for Penny Linn Designs is in need of some major organizational plans, which I finally have in place. It's my first real outline for a room so I thought it would be fun to share the process and drawings/concepts for the space.
Some people are going to look at these photos and think, "Wow what a mess. You've done nothing." Others are going to think "Wow, you've done so much," so whatever camp you may be in, I wanted to show you a little real-life update from the past month. What we've done, what we're doing, and what we still plan to do.

Things truly fell into place yesterday when decorating the house, just as I was cursing the holiday gods the day before lol. I could not be happier. I couldn't wait a moment more to show you guys!
I'm back! Moving/unpacking has taken over my life but I'm kind of loving it. I love to organize and find new places for things. I've just never had space to do it all before. Now, space is not the issue. Now the issue is buying furniture and accessories to help fill the space. And one place I've been all over? Facebook Marketplace.
I am SO excited to share the big news with you guys!! We have been keeping this a secret for some time now, which has been one of the hardest things to do. But the cat is officially out of the bag and I can't wait to tell you more!
Welcome back to the second (and final) part of my apartment tour! Thanks so much for all the love on yesterday's blog post -- so happy you guys love the apartment as much as I do. It truly is a magical place to live.
This apartment tour has been *years* in the making! Seriously, it's been on my yearly goals list since 2017, and the time has finally come. You know how life just seems to get in the way? That has been my issue. That and having too much stuff!! I didn't want the apartment to look cluttered. Every time I cleaned I told myself, we'd clean enough out to finally be able to shoot.
Possibly one of my most asked questions is about my light up mirror. When I tell people it's just a strip light from Amazon they can't seem to comprehend how it works -- I think it's so easy it's almost confusing! So I wanted to put together a detailed process of how you can get it done at home within 5 minutes!

Super excited to share the final look at my old apartment! There were a ton of changes since the last time you saw it and this has been a LONG process. Between getting in new items, moving things around, taking a lot of clutter pieces out... it has been months!
Of course at the time I had no idea I'd be moving but for the time it was like this, I enjoyed it. I sure to miss my old apartment but I'm so extremely happy in my new place I couldn't have asked for a better upgrade.
Believe it or not, I’ve gone 23 years without owning a home brewer, or as the kids these days call it; a Keurig. We have one at work, which I use often, but for some reason I’ve just never taken the plunge to get one myself (although it is highly needed)...
I love to entertain people, especially around the holidays but my teeny tiny apartment doesn't quite work for most of my grand ideas. When I can, I love to have friends come over for some good bubbly and great laughs. The size of my apartment makes it more difficult than usual, but I've come up with some fun little ideas for hosting in a small space. Hope you enjoy!
1. Make serving portable.
I loveee to do this. Most of the time people serve their drinks on a bar cart and while I'd love to have one, my space won't allow it. So instead I put my things on a serving tray. It's the perfect accessory for some champagne flutes, coasters and decorative (elephant) centerpieces. This way my guests won't crowd the kitchen or one spot in particular to get drinks. The drinks come to them! And it's also extra hostess points for bringing it around.
2. Turn everything into a place to sit.
In my apartment I have more seating space that I should, but it comes in handy when I have people over! I have the couch, the island and desk chairs and the ottomans at the end of the bed. For a studio, the ability to seat 10 is pretty impressive. One of the best things to have around are poufs; little decorative accents that also make great seats for your guest.
3. Set the mood.
Might sound a little weird, but hear me out. Set the mood like those tiny NYC restaurants. Light some candles (I love these) and make the space feel intimate! A small space can be the perfect setting if you embrace it and don't bite off more than you can chew. Speaking of food…
4. Utilize flat surfaces.
Don't think of the kitchen as the only space to serve! Utilize your desk space, your side tables and your coffee table for snacks, decorations and drinks. Your guests will be happy no matter where they are in the apartment and they won't have to travel back and forth to get the things they want.
5. Have fun!
If you're having fun and enjoying yourself, your guests will do the same. They are there to celebrate friendship, toast to more years together and make unforgettable memories.
