There are a few things I feel very qualified to speak about and recommend. Barbour jackets are one of those things. I've been a fan of the brand for years and have more jackets than I like to admit. Because of that, I can tell you what's good and what's not, qualities to look for, styles, what's true to Barbour, and what you can pass on. Today, we're going to do just that. Please enjoy this review of all the Barbour jackets in the Nordstrom Sale!!
Review of the Barbour Jackets in the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale
Barbour Goodwood Waxed Cotton Rain Jacket with Faux Shearling Trim
Originally $475 // Sale Price: $299.90
Size: US 6 / UK 10
Thoughts: Out of all the Barbour jackets in the sale, I would say this is the most "true" to Barbour jacket! It's waxed, it has the chest and hip pockets, it has the tartan lining ... all the makings of an OG Barbour jacket. The fit is a bit oversized, which is very true to Barbour. Most of their original jackets were unisex so the boxy shape has definitely been passed down in this jacket.
I really like the shearling collar and how it's detachable if you wanted a corduroy collar instead. It has a lot of the bigger zippers and buttons that are more of a Barbour International vibe (I compare the two to be traditional vs. edgy). The price is also great for everything you're getting, and how close it is in style and material to the popular Beadnell styles. Overall, it's an "A" in my book!
Barbour Pilton Quilted Jacket
Originally $280 // Sale Price: $176.90
Size: US 6/UK 10
Thoughts: This is probably my favorite Barbour jacket in the sale. It's different enough where I don't really have anything super similar. I like that this is really lightweight -- almost Patagonia light (but not nearly as warm) -- but it doesn't feel cheap. I love the length and how it's more of a unisex fit. It can be the perfect throw-on-and-go jacket for fall.
The color, the collar, and the tartan lining are all things to love about the jacket. All stay very true to the Barbour name. It's still an investment but my most recommended jacket of the bunch!
Barbour Doncaster Quilted Jacket
Originally $250 // Sale Price: $149.90
Size: US 6 / UK 10
Thoughts: In comparison, I would say this is my least favorite jacket of the group. Like the above, this one is also super lightweight but it feels a little cheaper. It's as if it's made from the same material of a jacket you'd get from J. Crew Factory. It's fine but not great. I really wanted to like this too because of the color, but it wasn't cutting it for me.
If you're buying a Barbour coat like this, you want it to look and feel like a true Barbour coat. This one kind of missed the mark. I'd suggest passing on it and putting the money you save towards something else in the sale or towards another style of Barbour coat.
Barbour Riselaw Raincoat
Originally $350 // Sale Price: $199.90
Size: US 6 / UK 10
Thoughts: This jacket almost sold out on the first day of the sale. But there have been more popping up here and there in a few different sizes and color options so keep checking back if you can. There is something great about Barbour raincoats and this one does not disappoint. It's not only stylish and cute, but it's also super functional and well made. I have older raincoat styles from Barbour and this year's version is so much better.
There is a double mesh lining inside, the cuffs on the sleeves are actual cotton material, and the hood gives great coverage to protect you from the rain. And the color is to die for!! If you're able to snag it, you won't be disappointed. I highly recommend!
