My Top 10 Books of 2017

My Top 10 Books of 2017 by New York lifestyle blogger Covering the Bases

In 2017 I found my love for reading and I am SO happy I did. I've never (in my whole life) been a reader and I swear it was just one day on vacation I picked up a book and since then haven't been able to put them down. So I wanted to share my favorite top 10 books of 2017 if you also wanted to get into reading this year!

My Top 10 Books of 2017 by New York lifestyle blogger Covering the Bases

Decided I wanted to share *why* each to 10 books made the list (in order, btw), link the book for you to read but also share the reading list post where I originally share a book summary and my initial thoughts. So be sure to check out those pages as well if you're interested in learning more about the book!

TOP 10 BOOKS of 2017

1. Mud Vein (November reading list) -- This is far and away my number one and I'm not even sure why I though it was so good! I have friends read it who like it but aren't obsessed with it like I am and when they asked why I liked it so much I just can't seem to put my finger on it. Everything about it was great! It's an awesome thriller.

2. Behind Closed Doors (September Reading List) -- I've never had such an physical and emotional response to a book before. This book will f&ck you up by how twisted it is but it's just SO GOOD. So good.

3. Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo (October reading list) -- I loved this book because of the way it was told -- the chapters were her husbands and the whole story is a big twist. I love the author and I truly believe this is her best book.

4. Eligible (February reading list) -- I remember after I read this I couldn't stop thinking about it. The story is obviously a famous one but I love how it's a modern retelling so it speaks to a newer generation of people.

5. American Wife (February reading list) -- I loved this book because I love the Bush's and I want so badly to believe that this is a peek into the life of Barbra Bush and their marriage. It was also written by the same author as Eligible (above) and she is an awesome writer.

6. Big Little Lies (February reading list) -- I mean who didn't love this book! I was able to read it before the show came out and the book is 100x better than the show. It develops and shows the characters in a different light and I really loved the story.

7. All Is Not Forgotten (November reading list) -- This is one of the few books I had to put down and take a break because the story just got to me. It's gory and sad and extremely deep and it makes you mad and confused and ALL the emotions and then it throws you for a big loop and you are like wtffff and then its done. It's crazy, I need to re-read it.

8. Little Fires Everywhere -- I just read this last month and I was blown away by how much I LOVED the writing. The story was good but the writing is GREAT. It makes the book what it is! I cannot wait to get my hands on another book of hers.

9. Luckiest Girl Alive (September Reading List) -- I loved this book because it didn't go the way you thought and it throws you for a couple curve balls. I love the way it was written and really the story it told -- and how it wasn't one you've heard before from a book.

10. Lean In -- I re-read this book every year. It is an all time top 10 every single year and each year I re-read it I learn something new. It's an awesome way to feel motivated and empowered as a woman in the workforce!

I would love to hear about your favorite top 10 books below! I'm always looking for new books to read.
