I am so excited for today! Over the past couple of months, I've been working on a hat collaboration with Lisi Lerch and it just launched!
When it comes to being in the sun I'm all about protection. Daily SPF, protective clothing, in the shade, and (best of all) hats. I LIVE for a good sun hat and I have too many to count. But I think a great hat can really pull together any summer look, especially when there are bows involved.
I've been a long-time lover of Lisi Lerch -- ever since college (which now makes me seem old lol). I love their jewelry and over the past year and a half, I've also fallen for their hats. Sun hats can really be hit or miss for me. I need it to have good structure, be comfortable, be wearable (duh), stylish, easy to pack, and protective. I also would love for them to not break the bank! I'll admit that I own two hats that were north of $400, but the quality was there and I've worn them for years so I was ok with spending that much.
And in walks Lisi Lerch with this mid-range, really well-made hat that checks off all my boxes. How could a girl say no? Not to mention I felt like a million bucks any time I put it on. The Lauren hat quickly became my go-to sun hat for the beach, pool, travel, and beyond. It's all but replaced every other hat in my collection.
So when they reached out asking to collaborate on my own hat I jumped at the opportunity. I LOVE HATS (has that been established?) and the thought of creating my own had me really excited. I loved the idea of creating a high-quality hat at a more affordable price. The hat shape was already set, but the key to the magic is a really great bow.
I knew I wanted the bow to be big, simple, classic, and fabric (something different than the normal ribbon). For the print, I wanted it to be easily interchangeable in outfits, go with everything, be simple enough to throw on, but have enough oomph to stand out on its own. I wanted it to be whimsical, represent what I love, and have it be something for everyone.
After a few different design ideas and fabric/bow tweaks, we landed on what you see here today and I couldn't be happier. I love how this hat turned out and I really hope you do as well. I know I'll be wearing it all summer long, so this won't be the last time you see it here on the blog. I'll also be sharing some close-up stories and more in-depth reviews on stories later today on Instagram.
