A Houndstooth Skirt for Winter and Fall

Another day another skirt here on Covering the Bases. Hope everyone had a great weekend, let's pop on into this look!

Ralph Lauren: Wool-Blend Chesterfield Coat c/o (last years more affordable version HERE) / Ralph Lauren: Cashmere Turtleneck c/o (more affordable option HERE) / Anthropologie: Townsend Houndstooth Skirt / Sam Edelman: Camilla Tall Boots (sold out; this years version HERE) / Something: Tall Boot Socks Celine: Nano Handbag / BaubleBar: Mini Amariella Flower Stud Resin Earrings c/o

I kind of really love the contrast of colors here, especially considering I don't really wear black. I've found that I've been wanting to wear more of it but none of my accessories match (aka I have no black boots, I got rid of them!!). But I felt as black and camel are both neutrals, that it would work and I think it does!

There is something very classic and preppy about this look -- I'm pretty sure its the turtleneck/skirt combo but it probably all helps it tie in together. This sweater is instantly becoming a go-to in my closet but I understand that it's expensive so I've been trying to find something similar (I know it's out there!) without braking the bank. If you see something, please let me know.

In other news, the fall colors have officially hit New York and in my mind it's a little too late seeing as I'm in holiday mode. I love Christmas, it's my favorite time of year and I am READY to celebrate. Is it too early??
