NO SHOPPING UPDATE

So because it was a self imposed ban and because I am a blogger I gave myself a little bit of leeway with shopping but honestly, did a really good job! In total, I only bought 5 things all month. Three were home decor, a ring and a pair of shoes. Really not that bad! And as a true shopaholic I was able to justify it all lol.

I got a pair of Ralph Lauren blue and white lamps that I've been searching for for yearsssss and finally found a pair at a local HomeGoods in Chicago. Crazy thing is I don't even have room in my current apartment for them -- they are huge! They just match 90% of my china in my apartment (even down to my plates) and I knew long term I wanted them. It actually worked out perfectly that I can just store them at my parents house until I'm ready!

The two other things I got from HomeGoods was a blue and white vase (it was steal!) and a 4 stack ring. Now did I *need* these? No but I'm 100% a sucker for HomeGoods and just know if you don't get them before you walk out of the store they will be gone. It was also only last weekend so really I was at the tail end of my "sentence" and thought it would be ok :)

The pair of shoes are technically the worst of all the purchases since it was clothing but this was just TOO good of a deal to pass up! They are these Hermes Legend wedges that I found on eBay. They were worn once, my size, from a great seller and were 60% off the regular price. How do you pass that up?? (hint: you don't). I've been hunting these shoes for a couple years and I regret nothing buying them!

Now this might be the *worst* but BEST purchase of them all. Did I need them? No. Do I have room for them? Probably not. But do I get excited everyday thinking about them? HECK YES. They are these hugeeee Blanc de Chine pierced ginger jar set. I hope to get them in this week so you guys can see them. They are something to swoon over.

No Shopping - Clothing:

As far as clothing.... I didn't buy a single thing! And it was a lot easier than I expected. Honestly looking back at the last month I don't think I was sad or missed buying clothes. I think I had just gotten in this habit of buying that it just became this thing I did as second nature. Like something I was doing without really thinking or caring about it. It's weird, I don't know if I'm explaining it well enough.

For most of my normal life, I just re wear and wear again the same main items in my closet. It's fun to find new ways to wear things but mainly I just always reach for the same items in my closet. Especially at the end of each season it just gets so repetitive! I can't wait to start wearing dresses again.

The best part about the whole month, honest to goodness, was my credit card bill. I opened it the other day and was like DAMN girl you did good! I always pay off my bill in full but it was just so much easier to swallow this time around.

So it got me thinking, if I was so happy with the outcome and didn't even miss shopping, will this No Shopping challenge help me break the habit of buying just to buy? I mean I *hope* so. It was much harder to find outfits to shoot for the blog -- only because I still want to wear current items that are available for purchase because that's where I see the best ROI. But I think I did a pretty ok job with that. What did you guys think?

I don't even know if half of you even realized that I was remixing the same like 5 items over the past month. Which is good! I also was more forced to shoot items that I really love but might not have featured to showcase instead something ~newer~ but I think it really worked out for me.

But we are two days in now and I grabbed three things at J. Crew as part of their 40% off sale (total under $100) on Sunday and a few new dresses to try on for Caitlin's shower this weekend -- a few of which I will probably return. So I hope to limit my shopping more this month and going forward -- I need to remind myself that I just don't need all this stuff!

And with that, I'm planning a closet clean out VERY soon! So be sure to follow my shop Instagram page as not to miss. Planning on selling some bags, shoes and ALL the clothes (dresses, skirts, tops, etc) so don't miss out!
