My Favorite Transition to Spring Fashion

My Favorite Transition to Spring Fashion by popular New York fashion blogger Covering the Bases

Happy Monday! Andrew and I are back from Vegas and only here for a couple of days -- he's off middle of the week and I'm heading to Palm Beach on Thursday so I'm just counting down the days until I can get some warmer weather!

Going to try a new format today with my text where instead of going through a larger story I'm going to highlight each main item and talk about it. Let me know if you like/don't like below!

Lush Tunic: I first snagged a similar white top at the Nordstrom sale but just recently stumbled upon the one above. I decided to get it because it was on sale (it still is BTW) but I got it in pink. I LOVED the shirt but it was a little see-through so I re-ordered it in black and fell in love. The shirt is the perfect shirt to throw on for whatever occasion, to pack for any trip and to have in your closet.

I personally love it because it's SO long -- aka I can pair this with leggings and it's never a problem. When I wear it with jeans I just tuck in the front part and it all works great! It's really flattering and I think runs a size large. I'm wearing a Small here (vs my normal Medium). Since it's black and thin it's also a great transition piece from winter to spring.

And TBH I've worn this exact outfit twice last month -- once to travel to Atlanta and the other to work!

(did I mention this top is $27??)

Faux Leather Leggings: After hearing everyone and their mother rave about these leggings I decided to pull the trigger. I'm a big fan of spanx so I thought why not! They are great (obviously I kept them) but I don't know if they're amaaaazzziiinnnggg like everyone says. What really annoys me is that they tend to roll over at the top and I hate when pants do that. If I'm sitting I expect you to stay up right!

They are also very thin and therefore not at all warm. I made the mistake of wearing these on a colder day and it was no bueno!

I do however really like them and recommend them even after the above. They fit really nicely and totally suck you in and up as spanx normally do. They also don't really collect pet hair/lint like most leggings do which really means a lot to me. Having a cat with all three colors isn't great for clothing!

Slip on Sneakers: If you don't already know by now I love these shoes. They are the MOST comfortable shoes I have ever owned and I wear them 90% of the week. I wear them to work, to travel, on the weekends, around the city -- you name it, they are on my feet. I've worn my grey pair so much that it's time to get a new pair.

I get that they are expensive for shoes but I promise that they are worth the money. They go with more than you can imagine and really stand up to time (I had my grey pair for three years and are still kicking).

Gingham Rain Jacket: I think I'm on a short jacket kick right now. I feel like they are just great for those warmer days where you don't want to wear a full coat but still add something to your look. I obviously love the fact that this is gingham! Spring is my time to re break out gingham everything and I am very excited! I also love that this jacket is more affordable -- under $70 for a rain coat I feel like is a really good deal!
