Saturday brunch was spent at Malo Restaurant (you'll see a trend of eating my way through LA) which was this cute little Mexican restaurant that had amazing french toast! The guacamole was also delicious so make sure to order some while you sip drinks waiting for your food to arrive. Also, there is a great Instagram wall right out front that you need to be sure not to miss!
After that Sarah and I were on the hunt for the Micheltorena Stairs which are these beautifully painted steps tucked away from the main road. It was so beautiful and really a fun place to hang around and snap a few photos! Plus, if you're into it, there are a TON of stairs. Burn baby burn!
We spent the night watching movies and eating In-N-Out #duh and of course it was amazing. What's a trip to LA without a trip to the best burger place in America??
Monday:
Sunday brunch started out like all brunches do -- on the hunt for avocado toast. After trying a few places (and failing) we ended up at BLD and I'm glad we did! The food was REALLY good. But of course they didn't have avocado toast, which I thought was weird because how does one run out of that?? Thankfully I got the waiter to get me some sliced avocados and toast and we were good to go.
Then it (weirdly) got a little rainy. We didn't know what to do with ourselves! We had a lot of plans for what we wanted to do that day so we forced ourselves up and out and on the hunt for some angel wings.
There is this really awesome artist in LA that draws angel wings around town as a symbol to show we're all angels living on earth. Sarah is obsessed with the wings and now I see why -- they were so cool!! The wall we went to had three different ones on the side of this restaurant called Guelaguetza if you're interested!
After that we went to the Griffith Observatory at sunset but it was a total bust :( The weather was pretty bad and totally cloudy. We couldn't see a thing! I'll just have to go back another time to visit ;)
For dinner we went to Grub which was this hole-in-the-wall place but had some amazing reviews online. They're known for their off-the-wall food pairings and their mac and cheese (which we just so happened to be craving). The food was really good and the homemade lemonade was better!
Tuesday:
Tuesday was my last day in the city so we had to pack the half day with all the left over stuff I wanted to do. One of the things on my list was to visit and wander around The Broad museum. We originally tried to go earlier in the week but the line was crazzyyy and we decided to wait till Tuesday and get up really early to beat the crowd.
Lol to that joke! We got there 45 minutes before it opened and were in a three-hour *maybe* wait. GET TICKETS BEFOREHAND if you wanna go! Our line only moved if ticketed people didn't show up. Not ideal. So we said f-it and tried to do something else.
For breakfast we stopped by California Donuts and it was sooooooo good! It was a totally unsuspecting place because it was actually in such a weird location in this rundown strip mall. You order outside the window and it's kind of a grab-and-go type of place. It was different but once again, so so good. My favorite was the chocolate bacon donut!
After that we stopped by LACMA to see the lights outside. It was the middle of a very overcast day so there was virtually no one there which was really fun. We were able to run all around and through it and snap some photos without any photobombers! Super ideal.
Then it was time for me to pack up and head home! Thankfully a my flight at 4pm on a Tuesday to NY was nearly empty so I watched some movies and spread out across the row.
