Snack Crackers Recipe

Snack Crackers Recipe

Now that I have rediscovered my love for these, I can't stop making them (or eating them)! I've shared them a few times on Instagram and you guys keep blowing up my DMs asking for the recipe. And let me tell you, it is dangerously easy. Just be prepared to get hooked! Someone messaged saying I should call them "Crack Snackers" and I think it honestly sticks ... Enjoy!

Back Story:

This is a family recipe that I've recently rediscovered. Since I wasn't able to spend the holidays with my family, I brought my family to the holiday and made some recipes from my grandma's cookbook. I remember eating these when we spent summers at her house in California as we played cards around the table. Those were the good days!

Ingredients Needed:

-1 bag/box of oyster crackers
-1 cup of oil (I use avocado oil -- you can also use a thicker salad oil, just not anything too light!)
-1/4 tsp garlic powder
-1/2 tsp season salt
-1 package of Ranch seasoning (I use Hidden Valley)

In a bowl, mix together the oil, garlic powder, season salt, and ranch seasoning. Mix until combined. Next, the recipe calls for a brown paper bag. This is usually needed to soak up any excess oil in the mixture. I personally don't have a brown paper bag so I take a large zip bag and reduce the 1 cup of oil into 3/4 cups of oil. I also add in 1-2 paper towels into the bag to help soak in the oil. Pour in 1 box/bag of oyster crackers, and pour in the mixture over it.

Make sure the bag is secure and closed and shake VIGOROUSLY for six minutes nonstop. Shake up, right, down, left...

If you're using a brown bag you should be good to go from there. Easy right? If you're like me or if your crackers are a little wet still, lay them out on a cookie sheet covered in a layer of paper towels. I usually let mine sit for about an hour. Taste test as needed and just make it to your liking.

And that's it! It's really that simple. Just be aware that these are ADDICTING!! My grandma put a warning label saying in all caps "VERY HABIT FORMING" and she's not wrong.

They also hold up really well in the freezer to save and snack on for later. You can double the recipe (but still shake for the same amount of time) as you please. Some for now, some for later.

If you end up making this, be sure to tag me on Instagram @kristarobertso so we can chat about how amazing and addicting these are!!
