#GirlBoss in the City

I think we can all share a common love for Uber. Especially in the city, it has changed the game. It's safer, assessable and easy to use. No more worries of "how do I get home" or using unsafe means of transportation (I wish I had this in college!). But while they do so much for us on a day to day basis, they also do a lot for their own drivers.

I'm all about girl power and meeting other amazing women in the city so when Uber reached out for me to meet one of them, I couldn't turn it down. Uber opens up possibilities for women to become their own #GirlBoss and take control of their life and their finances.

I had the pleasure of speaking with Liliana, a wife and mother of one in the city. She's originally from the Dominican Republic and currently works at a local New York Sports Club as a membership consultant while driving with Uber on the weekends.

When speaking with her, I learned that she really loves what she does. The stories she would tell were always so heartwarming and you can truly understand that she appreciates every rider. Whether it was from her first (ever) drive going to La Guardia with a nice couple or a little girl wanting to share her jelly beans with her, or even the protective mother of a passenger who was so happy her son was driving with a woman-- the stories were endless!

Liliana said her favorite part about driving with Uber was getting to do it on her own time and making her own schedule. It lets her still have her normal job, take care of her son and make sure things are together at home. She also loves the physical act of driving. She said, "it's a great time for me because I love to drive and be outside."

Her favorite time to drive in the evening and her favorite NYC spot to drive past is Washington Square Park (I mean who's isn't!). Hopefully listening to classical music during this time, but will happily listen to other's music and experience it with them (sometimes even sign along with them!!).

Being a rider and getting to talk to Liliana, I asked what she looks for most in a person she's driving. She told me that it's goes a long way when they're polite and respectful and to keep in mind that her driving her something that she wants to do for you to make you happy or brighten your day. On the flip side she said she also hopes to be of service whenever a rider needs one -- helping with kids or groceries, she's your girl!

As for the future, the possibilities are endless for Liliana. She one day hopes to be driving around the city in a Bently (same) and keep up her current schedule -- as she couldn't imagine life without it.

"I'll always be there to listen to the good or bad day's and strive to make it better" - Liliana.
